HELPING YOU LIVE LIFE MORE BEAUTIFULLYHeadingSciton ProFractional™ can be an ideal choice for getting rid of signs of skin damage and restoring a healthy, youthful appearance. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Quenby Erickson frequently performs this powerful skin resurfacing treatment and is proud to be a top provider of Sciton ProFractional in Chicago.

What Is Sciton ProFractional?

Sciton ProFractional is a deep skin resurfacing procedure that focuses on restoring smooth skin and a more even complexion. Dr. Erickson most often utilizes Sciton ProFractional in combination with other laser devices to spot-treat small areas that need the most attention, such as scars, including acne scars, and perioral lines.

This fractional laser device creates thousands of tiny cylindrical columns in the skin to stimulate the production of collagen. It also triggers the body’s natural healing response, causing the body to replace the damaged cells with new healthy skin cells for a brighter, smoother complexion.

Because the laser energy emitted by this device only targets a fraction of the skin’s surface, Sciton ProFractional can provide noticeable results with less recovery time than many other laser procedures.

Best Candidates for Sciton ProFractional

People who are looking to enhance the appearance of their skin and achieve a younger-looking complexion can be excellent candidates for Sciton ProFractional treatments. Patients with acne scars, sun damage, and unwanted signs of aging can often benefit greatly from this procedure.

Sciton ProFractional is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing. Additionally, those with darker skin tones are not ideal candidates, as they are at a higher risk of developing hyperpigmentation due to this laser treatment.

Sciton ProFractional Results

Sciton ProFractional treatments provide long-lasting results. Patients can anticipate noticeable results within a few weeks after treatment, with ongoing improvements for up to six months.

Some patients achieve their desired outcome with a single Sciton ProFractional treatment. Other patients may need multiple sessions to accomplish their aesthetic goals.

How Much Will My ProFractional Treatment Cost?

The total price of a Sciton ProFractional treatment will depend on numerous factors, such as the number of treatment sessions, the exact skin issues being addressed, and the size of the treatment area(s). Dr. Erickson will review the cost associated with your customized treatment plan during your consultation.

What to Expect

During Treatment

This treatment will typically take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete and is administered by Dr. Quenby Erickson, a renowned board-certified dermatologist. A topical anesthetic will be applied beforehand to minimize discomfort during the procedure.

After the topical anesthetic has taken effect, the handheld laser device will be guided across the treatment area. Laser energy will be emitted into the skin tissues, which will cause a warm sensation. Once the laser resurfacing is complete, a special serum will be applied to moisturize the skin.

After Treatment

Most patients can expect to be fully healed within a week of a Sciton ProFractional treatment. The skin beneath the surface will continue to improve for several months. During the initial days of the healing process, areas of skin treated with Sciton ProFractional are typically bloody and may ooze. These symptoms usually subside within a few days. There may be a grid-like pattern on the skin post-treatment. This effect is temporary and may take a month or more to completely resolve.

Sunlight sensitivity, including increased susceptibility to photodamage, is a concern following any laser skin resurfacing treatment. Be sure to follow all of Dr. Erickson’s aftercare instructions to avoid sun damage and ensure optimal healing.
